Pleasantly suprised with p5x

After playing most of every persona game these past 2 years, I finally tried Phantom X today.

When i first saw screenshots, i thought it was a near 1-1 rip off of persona 5, I was wrong.

The map is insanely detailed (you can even see leblanc through the glass window), the gameplay is fun, and the story writing is way better than strikers and so far, on par with 3,4, and 5. It feels like a welcome P5 spinoff which to me is a first. Even the dancing game to me was weak. New school, new house, you can cross the street in shibuya now, all around extra care that I did not expect. Well endowed teacher/velvet room attendant. Tons of slice of life things to do that I normally would feel too preoccupied with social links to do in mainline games. The new owl that replaces morgana is not annoying.

The gameplay is clearly head and shoulders above p3reload.

The weirdest part of the gacha mechanic is characters have variants based on star ratings. 5 star versions of characters get the best skills, 4 stars are great, and 3 star are just ok. Garunteed 1/50 change to get a 5 star(i got 5 chances in 2 hours). With the free currency they gave me I pulled 2 4-star characters and 3 persona's to use/fuse.

I just recently made it halfway through Eternal Punishment, so my perception may be off, but p5x honestly feels like Persona 6. It's so good that it actually worries me how much development time it has taken away from P6. I know it is a separate developer, but it's such an upgrade from royal.

Its a shame that it is not available in the US yet. We would definitely enjoy the game even without an English dub, if that's what is holding it back.

All in all I feel like a kid in a candy store playing P5x. It's like playing royal for the first time all over again so I'm just Hella thankful and thought anyone who has yet to try it should know it's already peak.
